The Status of Land Cover and Biodiversity in Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) Forest Management Agreement Area
This report provides an overview of the status and trends of key land cover and biodiversity indicators within the Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. Forest Management Agreement area, building on assessments completed in 2009, 2014, and 2020. It draws on the ABMI’s province-wide monitoring data to assess how natural landscapes and species are responding to human footprint, wildfire, and broader land-base changes over time.
The report also features research spotlights that highlight findings relevant to sustainable forest management, including evaluations of harvest retention patches compared with wildfire-created patches, fragmentation effects on Canada Warbler and Black-throated Green Warbler, and vegetation recovery on seismic lines to support caribou habitat restoration.
